AdSense Installation: Pitfalls Beginners Should Know.

A dashboard prompt shows plans to upgrade for full web hosting access.

I can barely remember everything I did over the past two days. I’m not someone who knows nothing about computers, but this was one of those moments when I realized that in a field I don’t know, I really am clueless.

The first day was completely consumed by ads.txt. Free hosting, free plugins— they all claim to be “free,” but the essential functions are locked behind paywalls. A beginner tries to work around it by installing plugins, only to face conflicts, restrictions, and more conflicts. That’s how an entire day disappeared.

I’m still in the testing and learning phase. Who would spend hundreds of dollars at this stage just to build a website? At the very least, the system should let the site run, and then charge for advanced features. But this ecosystem works the opposite way. It blocks beginners first and only opens basic functions if you pay. That was the most disappointing part.

Throughout those two days, I had countless moments where I thought, “Maybe it’s working now.” But every time, the answer was the same. No. Not yet. Not even close.

Install a plugin → conflict. Fix the conflict → another conflict. Install again → something else breaks. Install–conflict–delete–reinstall. That cycle repeated endlessly.

All I wanted was to add one ads.txt file, but it opened the door to plugin hell. Some plugins blocked header access, some overwrote optimization settings, some triggered theme security, and some simply erased my code when I saved.

“Is it working now?” I must have asked myself that dozens of times. And every time, the answer was the same. No. Again.

Then at some point, I ended up turning to automation. Everything I had tried to do manually for two days was quietly handled by an automated system.

ads.txt was generated automatically, the code was inserted automatically, policy checks started automatically, and the site structure was cleaned up automatically.

It was… honestly a little ridiculous. I spent two days wrestling with this, only to find out it could have been done in minutes.

But at the same time, I felt a strange sense of relief. The site suddenly became stable. Pages loaded faster, the editor felt cleaner, and compared to the chaos of the previous day, it felt like a completely different website.

I was angry—very angry— but now I’m simply glad that the site finally runs.

If someone reads this and avoids the same beginner suffering I went through, that alone is enough for me.
